Clients Want Thick and Winged Effect Permanent Eyeliner, However …

Permanent eyelash enhancement and permanent eyeliner can look amazing and have many benefits if correctly and safely applied, however clients must be realistic about the results that can be safely achieved with permanent eyeliner.

Many clients come in wanting super thick jet black eyeliner which cannot be achieved for 2 reasons:

The thickness in permanent makeup is a 1 to 2 mm line at most which will take 2 to 3 sessions to complete as to not over work the delicate eye area.
The jet black is hard to achieve as the skin heals over the top of the pigment taking the edge off the colour and making it appear more charcoal & smokey when healed.

Although I see many technicians attempting winged effect eyeliner permanently, this is not safe because of the thin skin and blood vessels around the delicate eye area.

Be Aware of Permanent Eyeliner Migration

Eyeliner migration can happen for a number of reasons such as over working the delicate area if the client has unrealistic expectations, wrong inks used for the area, wrong needle depth, inadequate training. This isn’t intended to scare clients off having permanent eyeliner, but to enforce that fact that it is dangerous to go to thick and too close to the corners of the eye, and something that I never do.

Personally, in 10,000 permanent makeup procedures I have never had this happen to any of my clients!

What Can Be Safely Achieved With Permanent Lash Enhancements and Thin Permanent Eyeliners

In the picture below on the left hand side is the upper & lower permanent eyeliner. Although the eyeliner looks jet black immediately after treatment it will soften to a soft smokey charcoal within 5 days.

In the picture above on the right you can see my client has a beautiful natural permanent eyeliner that will not smudge when she exercises, swims, or cries. This classic eyeliner will always look good and if she requires additional eye makeup for an evening look then it can be added on top. The client will wake up everyday with a nice soft colour around the eye area, ultra subtle & ultra pretty.
