Healing Schedule for Permanent Lips
Gone Are The Hard Wobbly Orange Faded Outlines Outside the Lip Border, And In With The Soft Translucent Kissable Lip Colours
Watercolour lip tinting is one of my own methods I have developed & train to students all over the world to create this effect for their clients. This process was developed over the years by finding out what clients really wanted from their permanent lip procedures and what was possible to deliver without it looking unnatural
Permanent makeup should be natural but noticeable. When other technicians have applied too much pigment to the lips it starts to look very unnatural and is very noticeable (not in a good way!). In my opinion permanent makeup should be undetectable to people who don’t know you have had it done.
How Lips Heal – Lips Are A Process Not A Procedure
Permanent Lip tinting is completely unique, All other areas of permanent makeup heal in around 5 to 7 days with the final result visible at this point but not lips, lip tissue is not the same physiological makeup as the rest of the face or body.
Here’s The Clients Natural Lip Colour Before Permanent Makeup
Mixing Bespoke Permanent Makeup Colour Closely Matching The Clients Favourite Lip Gloss Selection
The colours most suitable to permanent makeup are the 2nd and 3rd from the left in the picture above, for this client.
As You Can See In The Immediately After Picture Below
Lips will appear much darker for the first 3 or 4 days after the initial procedure, Lips should be kept well moisturise throughout the healing process as there is a chapping as the lip tissue repairs and heals.
The Immediately After Colour and Opacity Does Not Represent The Healed End Result
Although the initial lip colour looks very dark immediately after treatment, within 4 or 5 days the colour will soften by around 70% turning translucent and the client can just wear Vaseline to moisturise and add shine. The colour will fade gradually over the years and the client can come back for a colour booster every year or two.
Day 3 The Dark Colour Exfoliates Away
You can see here the dark colour exfoliates away leaving a beautiful soft translucent shade of colour underneath.
The colour will develop further over the next month or so.
I provide all my clients with complimentary Vitamin A and D aftercare for lips, it speeds up the healing process and gives the lip a beautiful gloss at the same time.
A few Days After The Colour Seems To Have Almost Vanished
After a week or so the colour seems way too light and you begin to wish you had picked a much more vibrant colour. Do not worry.
The permanent makeup pigment shares all the same space in the lip membrane. The lip tissue has no epidermis or dermal layer it takes 3 to 4 weeks for the pigment to settle and find a permanent home
Close-up Look – Lips Are Worth The Wait
Day 21, all the colour has come back…
I book all my clients in for a free follow up appointment in 6 weeks time to check the colour, make any adjustments to the lip shape and intensify the effect if needed.
Watercolour Full Lip Tints and Water Colour Lip Blush effect all look completely natural and Translucent when Healed. This means the client is able to wear any vibrant lip colour they choose over the top of there permanent lip colour but when they wake up in the morning they have a perfectly defined lip shape and a healthy splash of colour.
