Changing Fashion Concerns About Permanent Makeup Procedures
What if Fashions Change, What if Someone Wants to Wear a Different Colour Lipstick That Day Or What If The Client Doesn’t Like it?
When clients come in to me for permanent make up they are often telling me that their husbands and friends think they are mad! I often hear people say, what if fashions change, what if someone wants to wear a different colour lipstick that day or what if the client doesn’t like it?

So What if Fashion changes?
In the consultation stage this is the first thing that I address. Fashion is not permanent! I only ever apply eyebrows in a classic way i.e. an improvement in the natural shape of the clients eyebrow. Every technician is different and has their own opinions on what permanent makeup should be. For me permanent make up should always enhance what the client has got naturally and not change the face completely.
Most times I’m neatening up the natural shape, correcting asymmetries, filling in sparse areas of the brow or adding missing tails to the brow.
If a client wants very long bows, extremely high arches or over the top dramatic eyebrows that are very unnatural to them, then I suggest drawing this on with a pencil as you cannot guarantee you will want this forever. Usually the client will see that it looks unnatural and agree to go with a more subtle treatment.
Your Natural Shape, Neatened, Filled and Perfected Will Always, Always, Always Look Good!
This client has had Permanent Makeup Eyebrows, Upper Lash Enhancement and Lips. As you can see in the image below she looks completely natural, and she is not wearing any makeup!
What if I Want to Change Lipstick Shade?
Then change it. At the consultation stage i like to find out what the client wears most days. Usually ladies have only 2 or 3 colours that they wear on a regular basis. I will mix a bespoke colour just for the client and it will be natural enough that it will look amazing with only Vaseline on. But they also have the freedom to wear a stronger lipstick over the top should they want that.
I would never recommend having a strong, vibrant blocked colour permanently applied, but just a healthy blush of natural colour to brighten up the face and neaten up the natural vermillion border.
What if i don’t Like it?
I have done over 10,000 procedures now and have yet to have a client that does not like her permanent makeup after it has been done.
The consultation is so in-depth that I know exactly how the client wears her makeup. I know what the client hates and what she loves and I always always err on the side of caution with colour selection. I will always choose a colour that is a little too light on the first session so that once it heals I can darken it on the second session with the clients permission. This is how I can guarantee the result.
Any shape changes can be made at the second session if the client would like, and everything is pre-drawn before it is tattooed. Also the colour is chosen and approved by the client before we start.
In 6 weeks there is a free follow up appointment so that I can check that the colour has healed in the way it should have and if it needs tweaking then it can be.
Working around the eye area has a maximum amount of coverage for one session as to not over work the area. If a client requires a stronger or thicker result I will offer additional appointments included in the price to get the desired realistic result safely.
